never specified as far as i know. there is a line, "with the deed done, i begin to feel my age", but that could just imply that his drive to return to hallownest, in itself, kept him going. though either way he probably dies

this is the kind of thing where it's moreso funny and novel that it exists than necessary for the integrity of the game- like StP's Good Ending

a downside to this is, if you fix something that ends up being major and run-defining, and then later release a console port, it can end up making the speedrun less accessible for console players (who might end up stuck on a version with few runs and guides)

best policy imo is to make it easy to downpatch on steam, like hollow knight does. then, you can fix whatever you like, and we can just split our boards and run whichever version we like most

funnily enough i felt this about AC:NH, which is weird because you'd think animal crossing would WANT ease and convenience. but turning every trip to the city and long conversation into a boring menu just makes the game feel... soulless?? it got boring so much faster
