Letting a foreign company run freely and with no oversight would be downright stupid, as demonstrated by Romania.

Russia used TikTok to try and steal the Romanian election and it almost worked.
All social media is dangerous, and as such should be regulated. It's harder to regulate foreign companies.
Admittedly banning TikTok without also placing restrictions on other apps is worthless.
