We have been witnessing the fear, sadness & disappointment among the people we support over the last few weeks.

The horrific attacks on asylum hotels are a direct outcome of the constant scapegoating of people seeking safety in our politics & the media. This must stop immediately.

Our response ๐Ÿ‘‡

Asylum seekers in the UK are literally not "illegal migrants" the law, the courts, and international treaties that we all have to follow say they are not. It's hate speech to call an asylum seeker an "illegal xyz"

Today's ruling in the judicial review brought by Al-Haq is a deeply disappointing moment - not just for those who brought the case after tireless effort, but for every Palestinian whose suffering demands justice and accountability.

Once again, British courts have refused to take on the executive when it comes to arms sales.
Time and again, they have abrogated responsibility, especially when the phrase "national security" is invoked. We must remember: we have no public record of what the government says behind closed doors in its secret court sessions. Democracy does not operate in the shadows.

This case was about the UK government's continued licensing of F-35 components into a global supply chain that serves the Israeli military - even after it suspended other arms exports to Israel in September 2024, just 90 minutes before a court hearing. That suspension only happened because of this case and let's be clear: it happened because the government feared public exposure.
While the court has not upheld Al-Haq's claim, it has not endorsed the government's actions either. It has refused to adjudicate on the government's so-called "genocide assessment" and has not addressed whether the UK's actions are consistent with its obligations under international law.

The court has said these are matters for Parliament and the public. Yet this government has repeatedly hidden behind legal processes to avoid precisely that scrutiny. That is not accountability. That is evasion.

Despite this ruling, this case has already achieved a great deal. It forced the government to disclose internal assessments and correspondence that paint a shameful picture.
It revealed evidence the government received in early 2024 of Palestinian children with bullet wounds consistent with reports that Israeli snipers had turned them into targets.
It showed that, even as Palestinian women and children were being slaughtered in staggering numbers, the government's July 2024 assessment concluded there was โ€ฆ

It showed that, even as Palestinian women and children were being slaughtered in staggering numbers, the government's July 2024 assessment concluded there was โ€ฆ

And it revealed that the UK continues to consider Israel's targeting processes "thorough and rigorous" even as the world watched entire neighbourhoods levelled and UN experts warned of acts of genocide.
This contradiction at the heart of the government's position is stark. Ministers say it's not for them to determine genocide, that only international courts can do so. Yet internal "genocide assessments" have clearly been made and used to justify continuing arms exports to Israel. If they have no view, why are these assessments being made? And if they do, why refuse to share them with Parliament?
This Labour government, in opposition, demanded the Tories publish their assessments. Now in office, they've refused to do the same. Meanwhile, when over 300 Foreign Office staff raised alarm over UK complicity in Gaza, they were told by the department's top civil servants that their
"ultimate recourse is to resign".
At every point, this government has rejected transparency and accountability for its complicity in a live-streamed genocide.
Today's judgment is a setback, but only a temporary one. The facts on the ground remain unchanged: Palestinians continue to endure a genocide and the UK government is enabling these atrocities. It must end all arms sales to Israel immediately.
I stand in full solidarity with Al-Haq, with the legal team, and above all, with the Palestinian people.
We will keep pressing this government to end its direct complicity in genocide in Parliament, in public and wherever it tries to hide.
The law may have failed today, but the political and moral case has never been clearer.
Justice for Palestine cannot and will not be silenced.

The Prime Minister imitating Enoch Powellโ€™s โ€˜Rivers of Bloodโ€™ speech is sickening.

That speech fuelled decades of racism and division. Echoing it today is a disgrace. It adds to anti-migrant rhetoric that puts lives at risk.
