It just really gets me, seeing them so young and happy and then slowly growing more and more unhappy in the old pics. I never knew my paternal grandpa since he died before I was born and my dad stopped talking to my grandma when I was a kid, but man, I want to hug them. I'd like to think they are

seeing just how YOUNG they were, and happy. They were 18 when they got married, and seeing them transition from being so happy to being absolutely miserable and the crazy eyes on my grandda just breaks my fucking heart. They were kids, man. Kids that passed on generational trauma and fuck.

One of my older cousins on my dad's side sent me a TON of old pics of my relatives, some I've never seen before. It's really cool, but also super sad because my grandparents had MAJOR issues as they got older. My grandda suffered from alcoholism and mental health issues, and it's so heartbreaking
