I just finished the March Mini Challenge. I’m so glad for this challenge because not only is my To Be Read pile 3 books shorter, but these books were SO WORTH READING.

I just read Adventures of Huckleberry Finn for the first time. I plan to use it for the shared universe prompts with James. I haven’t read James yetβ€”would you say it was a shared universe or a retelling of Huck’s story?

I’m enjoying Cinder already! Sci-fi & dystopian are not my usual genres, but this one is really interesting. Cyborg Cinderella! Who knew? 🀭🀩

Picture shows the book cover of Cinder by Marissa Meyer. Cinder is shown as a cyborg with a jet flying in the background of this dystopian setting. To the right is a movie still of smiling Drew Barrymore as Danielle de Barbarac in Ever After. She’s dressed in dark green and white, with long brown hair, and holding an apple. She has smudges on her forehead.

April Read It+Watch It is a fairytale retelling. I know, β€œmy challenge, my rules”. I want to know what you think.

I’m thinking of choosing the book, Cinder, by Marissa Meyer, and the movie, Ever After. Could I use these choices, or should the movie be based on the book? #52BookClub

On Earth We’re Briefly Gorgeous by Ocean Voung

This book is poetry to me. A heartfelt, devastatingly touching letter to his mother (who died before it was published). Generational trauma from the Vietnam war, emigrating to the east coast, exploring sexual identity. A lot to unpack.

Imagine the gothic opulence! The tragedy! The pathos! A tale of retribution dripping with the poetic justice of a woman who refuses to go gently into the dark nightβ€”a sentiment with which I am intimately acquainted.

Dearest literary luminary, Mr. Martin,

I beseech you, with all the fervor of a bereaved yet resplendent matriarch, to grace the literary realm with a most tantalizing oeuvreβ€”a novella devoted to the spectral grande dame of Westeros, Lady Stoneheart.

Hi! Last year I read my first two sci-fi novels: Klara and the Sun and Project Hail Mary. I loved them both! Klara didn’t focus on sci-fi as much as Project did, but they were very good stories. I also read Never Let Me Go. That was heartbreaking. I’d love recommendations if you liked these books.
