Why am I so against generative AI in games?

Because I simply do not want my initial reaction to art to be one of suspicion and scrutiny, AI slop is fundamentally damaging my relationship to art and artistry, and I am deeply resentful that it is forcing me to be guarded when I should be wowed.

But from what Poet has said about their experience w Chrizz during the website development, I'm pretty sure what HE did to them constitutes plagiarism. Chrizz did at least pay them for the work rendered but that's not good enough for me tbh

The poll he posted earlier has concluded. I would say that a clear majority would be needed before taking action. This is such a thin margin and should show you just how contentious the current issues are

The only thing in this response that I agree with and can actually say I respect is the fact that he wants to leave Landie out of this, but he didn't exactly apologize either for the undue stress he put on Landie - which I personally think is in order.

Then show it. Every time someone says stuff like this and they don't immediately post it, it's because 90% of the time, they're lying. Until you post your proof, no one has any reason to believe you. Puffin, Poetry, and Wolbee all shared their proof, for comparison

Then take down Christina's XT too. Publicly. It was a " plagiarism " by your metrics of Landie's XT, right? So take it down and call her on it publicly.

If the community decides it does not want to use AI-made software (which it has every right to) that's on them. But don't be surprised when people abandon ship because this is the hard stance you wanted to take.

I also don't believe you at face-value on the issue with Puffin.

You're eventually going to run into so many bugs that the software will degrade, porting SAMMI off of GameMaker will become more and more difficult, and forget onboarding any new devs. They won't be able to read the code they're working with because it's going to be a jumbled up mess.

My thoughts:

This doesn't really address the fundamental issues that I have with him personally nor does it take accountability for his actions, especially towards Poetry.

If you want to use AI to continue coding as a solo dev, be my guest, but it's just going to negatively impact everyone

Completely understandable =/ I really hope things can move forward respectfully one way or another for the good of the streaming community

I'm sorry for all the mistreatment you, Puffin, and the rest of the dedicated Dev team had to experience :/ I really hope a resolution can be reached here soon, whether that's Chrizz resigning or all the Old Guard getting together to make another fork/new base code entirely

To elaborate on my thoughts:

I have no problem with Chrizz monetizing his work - or anyone for that matter. If you put love and labor into something and would like to be compensated for it, be my guest. My issue is that he used his position of authority to quash competition.

-the code, from what I've heard from other devs, is so broken that it essentially would be easier to start from scratch.
