Ah, the infamous ballpoint mouse driver, outliving the actual hardware by decades, and STILL causing trouble.

Designing for printing, minimizing or eliminating supports or the need to print in parts, can be a challenge with the solution not always being obvious at first. But it is rewarding.

Any article with "XX issues", and especially "XX issues warning", is made up nonsense.

Apparently if you mix green with orange, now you get red.

New toy. Er, I mean, vital workhorse.

As always, the first things to print are models designed by users to fix design issues left by the manufacturer.

That said, it's a lovely piece of kit.

Easily done!

My pet peeve with shared designs is they often aren't oriented for printing. Even ignoring that, many don't seem to be designed with printing in mind, so they'll have overhangs that could have been easily reworked to remove the need for supports which, aside from PLA, can be a pain.

Loving this "easy nylon" from Overture. Nylon has a rep for being hard to print but this was my very first attempt, using the recommended settings, an enclosure for the printer, a heated container for the reel, and a PTFE tube from there to the printer.

Life with 3D printers is a never ending path up the curve of learning new and exciting failure modes.

Hate that. Be very careful that you don't induce a twist yourself as it's easy to do if you let go of the end when handling the reel.

Not had one of those for ages. Shame as they get awfully confused when I push them off their script :). These days it's mainly a robocall from "bank security".

I've managed to connect a pair of BM6 vehicle battery monitors to Home Assistant, via an ESP32 running an ESPHome script to poll them. So now I can tell when I need to charge the motorhome batteries :)

Is it really levelling that's the problem? Usually it's the Z offset being too high (too positive). Or the plate has finger grease on it.

As you're a Trekkie, I'll translate my various and conflicting thoughts thus:

Scottie: "Our investments canna take any more of this cap'n"
Spock: "Take your hands off the controls Mr Scott"
Quark: "Dilithium crystals are cheap this week, have we got any spare cash?"

I have around 40% in gilts and MMFs, so at least that part is stable. I won't need to draw on it for a year or so, so hopefully it'll recover somewhat.

Depends :)

I binned my Ender 3 clone as it was slow, limited in the materials it could print (e.g. flexibles), and taking up too much of my time keeping it going.

If yours is/was reliable, and you're happy with the speed and not being able to print TPU for example, then probably keep it going.
