UPDATE: Federal court blocks Trump-Vance admin rule that threatened to strip commercial driversโ€™ licenses from thousands of noncitizens.

This ruling prevents immediate and sweeping harm to communities that rely on experienced, licensed drivers.

This is not an aberration, nor is it a titillating tale of pervy old guys.

The oppression of women, including via sexual crimes, is a pillar of the global POLITICAL economy.

It's why power & wealth are distributed as they are: maintaining that distribution requires collective action by many men.

What the Epstein files show is the *solidarity* of many men-across class, race, religion, profession & party affiliation-in the global political project of keeping the boot on women's necks.

People have no problem understanding class solidarity among the rich. Why can't they see gender solidarity?

129 wins ยท 36 red to blue flips ยท 9 run-offs. Thatโ€™s a 66% win rate, our highest ever!

Not bad for a crew of first-time candidates and local changemakers. Turns out, when you invest in local leadership, you donโ€™t just play the game, you change it.

BREAKING: St. Louis City Passes Resolution to Divest from Corporations Complicit in Human Rights Violations
In a 10-1-3 vote, St. Louis becomes the largest city in the U.S. to pass ethical investment resolution
ST. LOUIS, MO โ€” This morning, the St. Louis Board of Aldermen passed a groundbreaking resolution, โ€œEnsuring Ethical Investment of City Retirement Funds,โ€ ensuring that city retirement investments align with St. Louisโ€™s commitment to human rights, racial justice, and peace.

Backed by the grassroots coalition Not Another Nickel, the resolution was sponsored by Alderman Rasheen Aldridge and co-sponsored by President Megan Green, Alderwoman Alisha Sonnier, and Alderman Shane Cohn.

The measure calls on the Board of Trustees of the Employees Retirement System of the City of St. Louis to divest from any companies that profit fromโ€”or are complicit inโ€”human rights abuses, including war, occupation, apartheid, or systemic racism. It also directs the city to ensure all investments meet the ethical guidelines established by the American Friends Service Committee (AFSC).

With this vote, St. Louis becomes the largest city in the United States to adopt a divestment resolution of this kind. The decision comes amid a national wave for justice and ethical governance during this election week. Over 50 people showed up to give public testimony Wednesday in support of the resolution when it was in committee.

โ€œThis is a historic moment for St. Louis,โ€ said Ray Brown, spokesperson for the Not Another Nickel Campaign and member of Jewish Voice for Peace St. Louis. โ€œWeโ€™ve seen our city take a bold stand for justice in calling for an end to the genocide in Gaza. Now, the city has taken the next stepโ€”ensuring our resources are not being used to fund human rights violations anywhere.โ€

This resolution builds on St. Louisโ€™s ongoing commitments to human rights, including the January 2024 Board of Aldermen resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, and recent budget victโ€ฆ

Colonel Terry Virts Announces Run for U.S. House of Representatives in Texasโ€™ 9th Congressional District

Astronaut, veteran, & proven leader under pressure says heโ€™s โ€œstaying in the fight to save Texas and Americaโ€™s futureโ€

Houston, TX โ€“ Retired Air Force Colonel and NASA astronaut Terry Virts today announced his candidacy for the Democratic nomination for the U.S. House of Representatives in Texasโ€™ 9th Congressional District (TX-09) โ€” following recent redistricting changes that reshaped the political map across the state.

Virts, who had been campaigning for the U.S. Senate, said the shift to the House race reflects a renewed focus on defending Texasโ€™ voice in Congress and ensuring common-sense leadership in this pivotal district.

โ€œWhen politicians changed the political maps to favor their power over the power of the people, the maps changed but my mission didnโ€™t,โ€ Virts said. โ€œIโ€™m running to make sure Texans voices are heardโ€“fightring for Texas families, small businesses and the American dream. This campaign is about service, leadership and results โ€” not politics. Iโ€™ve spent my life solving complex problems under pressure, and Washington needs more of that right now.โ€

Astronaut Terry Virts, who'd been seeking the Dem nod for #TXSen, announces he'll run for #TX09 instead. The GOP just gerrymandered that district to make it almost impossible for Dems, prompting Rep. Al Green to say he might run in #TX18 instead.
