Hey y’all. I haven’t talked about this much publicly, but for all of January and part of December and February, I was knocked out by a truly gnarly sinus infection and the worst bout of burnout I’ve ever experienced. Between that and the store getting royally screwed over by multiple factors at the end of last year, things are pretty rough right now. I’ll go into more detail another time, but the TL;DR is that the majority of the garments we were supposed to have in stock for the holiday season were so late that they only became ready for sale in the past few weeks. I know a lot of people are struggling right now, everywhere. And frankly, with ICE still very active in my city, it feels incredibly selfish to ask for help when I know others have it much worse. But I’m not really sure what else to do. We have a lot of bills due, and because we received the bulk of our inventory four months late, we don’t currently have the funds to pay them. The good news is: we have a lot in stock now. And it would mean the absolute world to us if you would share this. The clothing in my store is made with certified ethical labor and designed by a queer, neurodivergent three-person team. We carry sizes S–6X in some garments and XS–8X in others. We specialize in mid- and plus-size clothing and pride ourselves on extensive fit testing to ensure our clothes actually fit properly. We think about and accommodate things many retailers forget — like the way belly curvature affects length, the need for wider sleeves and necklines, the reality of thighs and fupas existing. And our clothes have real, usable pockets. We ship domestically from the US and the UK. As a bit of a Hail Mary, we’ll be running a sale next week. Just before Christmas, I got a puppy. Her name is Minerva, and we call her *Minnie. I'm still learning how to understand her. Me: Do you need to go outside? Do you need to go outside, little baby? Do you need to do a poo? Do you need to do a widdle piddle? Minnie: Arf! *I just call her "little baby" most of the time. I'm also realizing I can't turn off the baby talk now. Nobody tells you about that.

I got so lucky with my first puppy. Her wonderful foster parents had her completely house-trained by the time we adopted her, so taking her outside for potty time has been pretty easy. I've got the puppy poopy routine pretty much down, now. Me, putting on my coat: Let's see... I got the little poopy bags, puppy treats for bribes, jacket, scarf, phone… I think that's everything… Oh yes! And my passport.

I had been carrying around my passport for a while, but I knew it didn't matter. This is wrong. Nobody is required to carry around their papers. I became a US citizen when I was seven. Since I was born in a refugee camp, I was stateless. The US is the only nation where I've ever held citizenship. It's the only passport I've ever had, and it still felt important. Protective. I would hold it in my pocket like a talisman, like it might ward off ghosts or something. But I realized I was holding onto it basically out of superstition. ICE will pick up anybody. I know that. So I tucked my passport away. And I largely avoid leaving my house.

I live a few blocks just South of George Floyd Square. I was in the neighborhood for that, too. And all the neighbors came together to protect each other. We're already organized. We'll do our best to get through this. Me, to my dog: I hope I can take you for a walk someday soon. Won't that be nice, little baby?
