Stars and satellites glowing in long exposure streaks of light as ISS orbits Earth.

'Satellite Swarm Zoom'

A star trail image made with a time-lapse image sequence photographed by Jonny Kim from ISS. Each image was restored, remastered then retimed using frame interpolation for a short film. These new frames allowed for a simulated long exposure photograph.

Hurricane #Priscilla and Typhoon #Halong 🌀🌀

Synchronized satellite views of two powerful tropical cyclones currently churning on either side of the Pacific Ocean. Priscilla is near Mexico, and Halong is near Japan.

Typhoon Halong has quickly strengthened into a Category Four storm to the south of Japan.

This animation shows the last 24 hours for Halong.

Two Starlink satellite trails, one green and one blue. They are passing through Gemini on 5 October 2025 at 04:35 UT. The bright stars above the green trail are Castor and Pollux. The bright object at the end of the blue trail is Jupiter. Taken with a Canon 600D and 50mm lens at 10s exp, 50mm fl, f/1.8, ISO-800. I know that the blue ones are due to a coating on the newer 'Direct to Cell' satellites that is supposed to make them less visible in the night sky. Apparently the latest coatings have a green hue, meant to make them even less visible (I assume). Satellite mega constellations are the vermin of the sky but in some circumstances make for an interesting picture.

Captured something interesting a couple of days ago - colourful satellites. I've seen blue Starlinks before but not green and blue ones together. What's with the different colours? A big gas cloud where new stars are being born seen in infrared light. The gas cloud itself appears in red, orange, and violet colours, occupying almost the entire image. Hundreds of dots are spread across the picture, as they are stars in our own galaxy.

The best part of processing space telescopes' data is to discover new regions that I didn't even know existed in the first place! 🔭

This is G054.093+01.748, a star forming region in our galaxy, as seen by the JWST recently, located in the Outer Scutum–Centaurus spiral arm.
