I think you've nailed it here. There is a tendency among all of us - conservatives and liberal - to stay in our silo, to only listen to the "comforting voices" that confirm our world view. When reality smacks us in the face, we can't believe it. That's what's happening now with the GOP.

I may have missed it, but in all of the talk of sending humans to Mars, I've not read anything about "returning [them] safely to Earth" as Kennedy put it before Congress in May 1961 (the line that Buzz Aldrin says was his favorite). Is it to be a one-way trip, a suicide mission?

I followed this mission closely for years - and I'm very excited to see these results. It's almost as if these asteroids are "seeds of life" in the cosmos!
