So many reports of ways that climate change is costing us lots of money now and near term. No longer far off in the future. This one might connect with people interested in outdoor sports. Each might not seem big, but added up climate change is already costing us far more than clean energy.

After the US admin cancelled the $B Climate + Weather Disaster dataset, @climatecentral.org hired the scientists who ran it and set it back up.

Now the 2025 numbers are in: it's 3rd highest year on record and highest year w/o land-falling hurricanes.

Right now resources are shared as a % of system usage, so Utah has 44% of PAC resources and Oregon is 27% of PAC, WA is 7%, CA is 1%, etc. Utah is the largest % of PAC's system. But, we all share in the resources. That is changing now though with WA/OR exiting coal, but how that works is TBD.

Worth noting, there will never be an illegal war over solar energy. That's what true energy independence looks like.

The big difference between 2002 and 2026 is that we now have viable alternatives to oil for transport.
