I think jemelle’s framing of “blue collar aesthetic” is right. I think there are people who can achieve that in a phony sense. Republicans are full of guys from Harvard or Yale or whatever that do it. Yes it might have to be male. Yes the beard joke is all too real. But doesn’t mean it can’t be done

My point was that it didn’t show any of his charisma (which he has in spades). It was just a smart crisp ad made by a clever team.

There’s some stuff only he can do. The talking authentically into a camera stuff is a skill for example. But there is no reason Mikie Sherrill, or Kamala Harris, could not run an ad like this.

Basically the only basic tv I watch is football and they are absolutely getting savaged during it (same with Harris)

Yeah her case is good for VA. In general I think working class. People like Osborn in NE and Platner in ME (before, you know) working well playing up working class stuff (even if not true) and not trying the military thing. Dems for a decade I feel like have been pushing the veteran thing to no luck
