The basin faces environmental pollution problems that pose problems for aquatic organisms and may pose health risks for local communities.
Yangtze River:
The construction of the Three Gorges Dam in the Yangtze River Basin has significantly affected riparian vegetation and microclimate, especially under climate change.
McMurdo Dry Valleys:
As one of the most sensitive areas of the planet to changes in temperature and solar radiation, the McMurdo Dry Valleys are some of the foremost indicators of the effects of climate change in our time.
Onca River:
As an outcrop zone of the Guarani Aquifer System, the Onca River is an entry point for possible pollutants to the aquifer.

Panola Mountain Research Watershed:
Panola is the birthplace of the 'fill and spill' hypothesis.
Upper Blue Nile Catchment:
The Upper Blue Nile is nicknamed the Grand Canyon of the Nile due to the deep gorge it flows through.
The Upper Blue Nile flowing through a wide, flat plain. There are large rocks on the right bank, and a small grove of trees in the background.
a bedrock outcrop at the Panola Mountain research watershed. there is some water flow on the left side of the rock face, and patches of moss and lichens
