Pension Commission to look at why four-in-ten fail to save enough Future pensioners are set to be worse off than today's with four-in-10 not saving enough for retirement, says the DWP.

More evidence of the long-standing inequalities & inadequacies of the pension system, disproportionately affecting women & lower-income groups, with a 48% gender gap in private pension wealth.
With more women than men relying on the state pension, any review must include state pension sufficiency.

Deprivation levels higher in NI than rest of UK - study Deprivation is higher in Northern Ireland than in regions of England, and in Scotland and Wales, research by Queen's University Belfast has found.

🚨A new QUB report: the 2 local authorities w/ the highest levels of deprivation across the UK were both in NI - Derry & Strabane, & Belfast

If there was ever a sign that we need a robust, progressive, & ambitious Anti-Poverty Strategy, this is it.

Women have done more than enough.
We have taken the risks. We have gained the degrees. We have made the bold moves. All while caring for children, aging parents, our schools, churches, and community. The real question is: When will men, companies, and governments finally meet us where we are?
Until then, let's retire the narrative that women need to work harder, be more strategic, or accumulate more experience capital. Women are not the problem. The system is. And it's long past time for the real stakeholders to take responsibility.

Women are being FAILED:
Childcare Strategy ❌
Gender Equality Strategy❌
Anti Poverty Strategy❌
Disability Strategy❌
Women's Health Strategy❌
LGBTQIA + Strategy❌

All awaiting NI Executive action
Many for YEARS.
Many just needing sign off.
It is not accidental it is deliberate & conscious failure.

Response to the Spring Statement 2025 report

Response to the Spring Statement 2025 report

The UK needs a new approach to fiscal policyβ€”one that invests in care, education and social security, not cuts that deepen poverty and inequality.

Global instability shouldn’t be met with austerity at home.

DWP cuts spark huge reaction from women’s groups - full letter to Rachel Reeves Dozens of women’s organisations have warned Rachel Reeves to rethink her disability benefits cuts over fears it will remove a 'vital lifeline' for victims of abuse

We joined 40 organisations in signing a letter asking the Chancellor not to go ahead w/ the proposed cuts to disability benefits. The cut will have a significant impact on NI due to the higher percentage of disabled people and people on benefits.
