In a paper just out in Big Data & Society (bigdatasoc.bsky.social) we at the GenderSci Lab warn against the growing use of so-called “pink” and “blue” algorithms, arguing that they risk embedding biological sex essentialist assumptions into medicine.

Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death internationally, and the US fares worse than many peer countries. Increasing gender equality may be one way to improve population health.

Our new study shows that living in states with higher levels of structural sexism was associated with worse cardiovascular disease outcomes for both men and women, especially for diabetes and stroke.

New analysis from CBO of the "Big Beautiful Bill" shows the bottom 20% get poorer, not much change for most of America, & the top 10% get meaningfully richer - and that's before tariffs

The "Big Beautiful Bill" was the largest transfer of wealth from the poor to the rich in a single law in history

The need to return to work shouldn't limit parents' choices in how they feed their newborn. These changes to #TANF show it's possible to support parents at their most vulnerable, and that increasing access to these programs must be considered to improve #healthequity.

While most people want to breastfeed, they face barriers like having to return to work right after birth. Providing cash to families, especially without imposing #workrequirements, allows for more parents to stay home with their newborn.
