IMAX Re-Release of The Who's 70s Rock Opera 'Tommy' New Trailer "Your senses will never be the same again!" Let's play some pinball! The Who's iconic rock opera Tommy is getting re-release in IMAX for two nights only this March. IMAX has unveiled a new official trailer for the re-release of Tommy, which first hit theaters in 1975, making this year's re-release a celebration of its 51st anniversary. Tommy is the rock opera musical movie created by and starring the band known as The Who. It's written, co-produced, and directed by Ken Russell, based on the Who's album of the same name, about a psychosomatically deaf, mute, and blind boy who becomes a pinball champion and religious leader. The film features an epic ensemble cast, including the members of the Who themselves – most notably, lead singer Roger Daltrey, who plays the titular role – along with Oliver Reed, Ann-Margret, Elton John, Eric Clapton, Jack Nicholson, Robert Powell, Keith Moon, Paul Nicholas, Pete Townshend, and Tina Turner. Remarkably this film got away with only a PG rating despite all that is going on. This looks totally bonkers! A crazy fun throwback to the 60s and 70s era when they were making all these movies with rock bands, going all-out wild with extravagant ideas & weird concepts & whatever they could think of. Rock on. // Continue Reading ›

Pom Klementieff is a DJ Looking For Her Friend in 'Mi Amor' Trailer "It's not like her, at all, to disappear without saying anything." Le Pacte in France has unveiled their first trailer for an indie thriller film called Mi Amor, the latest made by French filmmaker Guillaume Nicloux (of To the Ends of the World, La Tour, The Baby, The Divine Sarah Bernhardt). This just premiered at the 2026 Rotterdam Film Festival (aka IFFR) a few weeks ago but doesn't have any other release dates set yet. French actress Pom Klementieff stars as Romy – a French DJ touring the sun-bleached, club-lit Canary Islands, until her friend vanishes. Met with evasion from locals and the authorities, her search leads her to a magnetic stranger and the sinister proprietors of an exotic animal sanctuary. IFFR adds more: "In Mi Amor, Guillaume Nicloux builds a taut & slickly paced disappearance thriller that transforms the extreme natural beauty of the island into something altogether sinister and strange, driven by an always pulsing techno score by French artists Irène Drésel and Sizo Del Givry." The film stars Pom Klementieff with Astrid Bergès-Frisbey, Elina Löwensohn, Benoît Magimel, Freya Mavor, & Anaël Snoek. This seems very similar to Jan-Ole Gerster's film Islands – also set on the Canary Islands about a disappearance, with similar vibes. // Continue Reading ›

'The AI Doc: Or How I Became an Apocaloptimist' Film Official Trailer "We need to take a threat from AI as seriously as global nuclear war." Focus Features has unveiled the first official trailer for the movie The AI Doc: Or How I Became an Apocaloptimist, a new documentary (among many like it) about all this modern Artificial Intelligence technology. Is it actually any good for us? Or just plain dangerous? From the director of Navalny – a father-to-be tries to figure out what is happening with all this AI insanity. The AI Doc: Or How I Became an Apocaloptimist is a hand-made, eye-opening doc film about the most powerful technology humanity has ever created... and what's at stake if we get it wrong. Combining expert interviews, home videos, and animations, the film meets this pressing AI discourse with curiosity and heart, clarifying complex ideas while acknowledging how much remains uncertain & human. Rather than "claiming to have all the answers, The AI Doc offers a conversation that feels urgent, hopeful, impossible to ignore." I'm certainly intrigued and I really, really want to watch this just to see where it goes, and what it explores. But I think it's all too easy to be sold on the promise of AI and what tech dudes claim, rather than the actual reality and snake oil sales man truth behind what's really going on in AI. Take a look. // Continue Reading ›

Berlinale 2026: 'At the Sea' is an Entirely Useless Waste of Amy Adams Every once a while a film comes along that is so miserably boring and uninteresting, there is nothing more that you'll wish for than to get those 2 hours back. No matter which great actor pops up in this film, none of them are able to provide any kind of worthwhile performance to make it any better. It's a complete waste of time and a waste of talent. At the Sea is the latest film from Hungarian filmmaker Kornél Mundruczó, following up his previous films Pieces of a Woman (2020) and Evolution (2021). Unfortunately it's probably his worst one yet – an especially dour, meandering, tedious mess of a film about an alcoholic woman who returns to her family after finishing a stint rehab. But it's not really about that as much as it is about a group of stuck up, wealthy, dysfunctional people living in a big, fancy house on Cape Cod. Every day they wake up and go to the beach and then yell at each other and fight and that's about it. And this just happens on repeat for nearly two hours. Amy Adams tries to make amends and show her family that she's better, but they don't really care. And neither do we, the audience, as none of these characters are worth knowing or interesting in any realistic way. Harsh to say but I was surprised by how every single person in the film is a proper a-hole. // Continue Reading ›

Official Trailer for 'D is for Distance' Documentary Film About Epilepsy "Time future contained in time past. The same old story..." BFI has revealed the main official trailer for an acclaimed indie documentary film titled D is for Distance, made by two filmmakers telling their own story as parents of a boy with epilepsy. Made in the UK, this experimental doc film is opening in UK cinemas starting in April. It premiered at the 2025 Rotterdam Film Festival and played at Thessaloniki, London, and Vienna Film Festivals as well. A meditation on cinema, the NHS and family relationships, D is for Distance tells the story of the filmmakers' son Louis, and his debilitating experiences living with epilepsy, through an extraordinary archive of personal footage. Narrated by English actress Jodhi May. Louis, who is now 22, is also an emerging artist working in London. The experiences of his condition have vividly influenced his paintings, drawings and etchings, exhibited during last year's London Film Festival and seen throughout the film as well. D is for Distance is also a celebration of music, including songs from Holger Czukay, The Everly Brothers, Ennio Morricone, King Krule, and others. Certainly seems like a unique cinematic creation. // Continue Reading ›

New Olympics TV Trailer for 'Project Hail Mary' Ryan Gosling in Space "You are the only scientist who might know what this is." One month to go! Amazon MGM Studios + Sony debuted a new 60-second promo spot on TV during the Olympics this past weekend for the epic sci-fi movie Project Hail Mary. This was debuted during one of their sports promos involving the athletes - and this final TV trailer aired right after. It's more of a featurette with footage of Gosling explaining what's going on in the movie. Adapted from Andy Weir's acclaimed novel of the same name, this is the story of an astronaut who tries to save Earth while alone in outer space. The movie stars Ryan Gosling as Ryland Grace, who wakes up on a spacecraft at Tau Ceti with no memory of himself or his mission. But he then figures out he was sent here to help save Earth and must now figure out what to do entirely on his own – until he meets another creature. Co-starring Sandra Hüller as Eva Stratt, Ryland's superior, and Milana Vayntrub as Olesya Ilyukhina, his other Russian crewmate. This third trailer (view the other two) features tons of footage with Rocky, his alien friend (an on-set real puppet not CGI) who helps him figure out how to save the stars. After the final trailer that launched during the Super Bowl I don't need to see more - I cannot wait to watch. // Continue Reading ›

Berlinale 2026: İlker Çatak's Clever 'Yellow Letters' - Artists vs Politics In these contemporary times, with the world becoming more & more authoritarian by the day, it's important to speak out, speak up, and take a stand. But doing so can be dangerous, of course. Artists have always been a target of authoritarian regimes – because they often use their art to speak out, speak up, and stand against the government and their oppression. German-Turkish filmmaker İlker Çatak's latest film is a tale of two artists who start to struggle when an authoritarian regime comes for them and starts to censor, shut down, and oppress their way of living and their vitally important artistic expression. His new film is titled Yellow Letters, also known as Gelbe Briefe in German, and it's set in Germany though he's using the prominent German cities to double as two prominent cities in Turkey (Berlin is Ankara, Hamburg is Istanbul). The title is a reference to German culture – in Germany, a yellow letter is an official, legally binding document from courts, authorities, or police – often indicating a summons, lawsuit, penalty order, or debt collection. You don't want to get one of these, especially if it's saying you're in trouble for your art or something you stated. // Continue Reading ›

New US Trailer for Sergei Loznitsa's 'Two Prosecutors' Corruption Film "They need innocent people to incriminate themselves, in order to justify their actions... They fear being unmasked." Janus Films has unveiled the official US trailer for the indie film titled Two Prosecutors, the latest work from the Ukrainian filmmaker Sergei Loznitsa (also director of My Joy, In the Fog, A Gentle Creature, Donbass). This premiered at last year's 2025 Cannes Film Festival and it also played at Karlovy Vary, Toronto, New York, London, and many other major fests worldwide. Set in the USSR back in 1937, a newly appointed prosecutor discovers an undestroyed letter from a prisoner that reveals corruption in the secret police, the NKVD. His search for the truth becomes dangerous. The new film from great Ukrainian director Sergei Loznitsa is a scalpel-precise tale of the horrors of totalitarian bureaucracy. With Aleksandr Kuznetsov, Aleksandr Filippenko, Anatoliy Beliy, Andris Keišs, Vytautas Kaniušonis, Valentin Novopolskij. The film is described in many positive reviews as "a Kafkaesque tale that is laced with bitter irony, exploring ideas of justice and legacy." This one is for die-hard cinephiles and fans of Loznitsa already. // Continue Reading ›

Berlinale 2026: 'Sunny Dancer' is a Near Perfect Coming-of-Age Story Whether you like it or not, it's time to grow up. And maybe it's also time to learn to appreciate being alive on this planet and all the beautiful people on it. One of the best discoveries from the 2026 Berlin Film Festival (so far) is a little indie film from Scotland called Sunny Dancer made by young filmmaker George Jaques. This coming-of-age story following teens at a summer camp is actually way more than just another summer camp film – it's also a cancer comedy that celebrates joy & love above all. Last year I wrote about the indie film subgenre of cancer comedies in my review of the documentary film Andre is an Idiot (it's also really good). It's actually quite useful and good to use comedy to deal with the unrelenting horribleness of cancer. The right filmmaker with the right vision can craft an unforgettably touching story utilizing comedy even when it involves cancer & terminal illness. Sunny Dancer is one of the best coming-of-age films I've seen in a while – a near perfect summer camp comedy that is as unique and refreshing as it is funny and endearing. // Continue Reading ›

Haunted House POV Movie 'The House Was Not Hungry Then' Trailer "He does not love the house. He hurts the house." Chroma has revealed an official trailer for an indie horror film titled The House Was Not Hungry Then, made by Scottish-American filmmaker Harry Aspinwall. This premiered last year at the Cinquest Film Festival and is out to watch now on VOD at home anytime. An intriguing new indie horror that's based around the POV of the haunted house itself. While searching for her estranged father, a young woman breaks into an empty house in the Scottish countryside where every visitor disappears. Now she must avoid the man posing as a real estate agent who lures victims inside to feed the hungry house. Starring Bobby Rainsbury, Clive Russell, and Bill Paterson. In you go, and have a look around... This reminds me of the POV horror film In a Violent Nature from Canada, as well as Soderbergh's Presence film also from the perspective of the ghost in a home. Very eerie vibes in this... with all these wide shots of the house itself and the people looking around in it. Worth a look if you're into experimental horror. // Continue Reading ›

Festival Trailer for 17th Century German Film 'Rose' with Sandra Huller "I never before was able to think of a tomorrow. I was far too busy surviving each day." Meet the Soldier. The Match Factory has unveiled the first official trailer for the Austrian-German film titled simply Rose, the third feature from Austrian filmmaker Markus Schleinzer. It's premiering this weekend at the 2026 Berlin Film Festival in the Main Competition - hence why this trailer is out now timed to its initial premiere. The true story is about a woman in the early 17th century, who disguises herself as a former soldier to work in a village, and wants to be a good citizen at any cost. Acclaimed German actress Sandra Hüller stars as Rose, with Caro Braun, Marisa Growaldt, Godehard Giese, and Augustino Renken. Set in the early 17th century, somewhere within Germany, a mysterious soldier arrives in an isolated Protestant village. He works hard to prove himself to the other villagers, but all of this is based on a lie. It's described as "the true and twisted tale of a swindler who, defying her birth as a woman, comported herself as a man and deceived a village." Not the most exciting footage to watch in this trailer but certainly a film to keep an eye on anyway. // Continue Reading ›

Stranded on an Arctic Ice Floe in 'The Drift' Survival Thriller Film Trailer "Send somebody to help me, I am begging you!" Capelight Pictures has revealed the first official trailer for The Drift, a survival thriller from Finland made by the Finnish filmmaker Taavi Vartia. Yet another one of these someone stuck-in-one-place thrillers they're making all the time now. This one is such a crazy idea for a film! An ice skating star gets stranded on an ice floe, a piece of ice drifting in the sea, deep in the Arctic. When the ice floe starts to float towards the south and melt, the ice skater must use all means necessary to survive. It's described as a "survival drama with heart, suspense, and breathtaking Arctic beauty. Thea Sofie Loch Næss fights to survive as it begins melting and drifting south." Starring Thea Sofie Loch Næss as Emily, along with Nikos Koukas. Of course reminds me of Mads Mikkelsen's single-man survival thriller Arctic, but this seems much cheesier & much less realistic than that one. Still looks possibly worth a watch. // Continue Reading ›

This co0stars Armen Weitzman & Nick Corirossi. In a world where humans and merpeople exist, Princess Chao gets engaged to human engineer Stephen. What will become of their romance? ChaO is a kind of a funny spin on The Little Mermaid, with quite a few anime twists. The film stars Osamu Suzuka and Anna Yamada. Suzuka voices the role of Stefan, an ordinary businessman who falls for her, and Yamada will play the role of Chao, the princess of the mermaid kingdom who wants to experience everything on land. A flight from LA to Shanghai goes down in the middle of the Pacific. After surviving the crash, survivors soon discover they're not alone in the water and they must survive the hunt when sharks come for a feeding frenzy. Starring Aaron Eckhart, Ben Kingsley, Molly Belle Wright, Angus Sampson, Kelly Gale, Li Wenhan. The craziest part about this is that Renny Harlin is also the same director from the iconic Deep Blue Sea shark movie in the 90s – not his first time playing around with sharks. This is one helluva intense teaser! Strap in. // Continue Reading ›

Must See First Trailer for 'Spider-Noir' Series Starring Nicolas Cage "Wherever I go the wind follows, and the wind smells like rain." Prime Video has finally unveiled the first look trailer for the highly anticipated spin-off Spider-Man series called Spider-Noir. This is basically a full live-action TV/streaming series based on the Spider-Noir character that appeared in the animated Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse movie a few years ago. However, it's also based on actual Marvel comics – from Spider-Man: Noir #1 (2009). An aging and down on his luck private investigator in 1930s New York City is forced to grapple with his past life as the city's one & only superhero. Nicolas Cage stars as as Ben Reilly / The Spider – an older and grizzled version of Spider-Man from an alternate world based on 1930s NYC. He returns to being the Spider after stepping away years ago because of a personal tragedy. The cast includes Lamorne Morris as Robbie Robertson, Li Jun Li as Cat Hardy, plus Karen Rodriguez, Abraham Popoola, Jack Huston, and Brendan Gleeson as the mob boss Silvermane. The series will be available in classic black & white as it was intended, based on the comic, as well as in full color because they're afraid of releasing it in B&W only. Looks amazing so far either way! Should be awesome. Bring on the noir Spidey. // Continue Reading ›

John C. Reilly in Western Film 'A Prayer for the Dying' First Look Trailer "You can't save everyone, Jacob." New Europe Film Sales has unveiled a festival promo trailer for the indie western film titled A Prayer for the Dying, marking the feature debut of Norwegian-American filmmaker Dara Van Dusen. This film is premiering at the 2026 Berlin Film Festival starting this week in Berlin. Not a remake, based on the book of the same name, and not the same as the 1987 British film also titled A Prayer for the Dying with Mickey Rourke. This brand new film is set in 1870 in Friendship – a small Wisconsin town, made up of Scandinavian settlers, is still suffering from the repercussions of the recent Civil War. So when faced with a new and even deadlier threat, one man is forced to make a harrowing choice: save his young family or defend the community that gave him a second chance at life and meaning. A Prayer for the Dying is described as "powerful account of the choices we must make when disaster strikes and everything we hold dear, including faith, family and community, is shaken to its very core." Starring Johnny Flynn as Jacob Hansen, John C. Reilly as Doc, with Kristine Kujath Thorp, Gustav Lindh, Hilton Pelser, & Andrew Whipp. Based on Stewart O'Nan's novel though this almost seems like an Eddington remake, too. // Continue Reading ›

Raucous Full Trailer for 'California Schemin' Film from James McAvoy "You know none of this is real, right?" 🎤 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 "This is what we wanted!" "This is not what we wanted..." Studiocanal UK has launched the full official trailer for the film titled California Schemin', marking the directorial debut of Scottish actor James McAvoy as his first film. McAvoy directs and exec produces and also co-stars in the film, which premiered at the 2025 Toronto Film Festival last year in the fall. Set to open in April 2026 in UK / Ireland, but still nothing on any US release yet. An irresistible, feel-good underdog tale about two Scottish men pretending to be Americans to achieve their dreams of hip-hop stardom. It's based on an actual story that's stranger than fiction. Inspired by outrageous real events, California Schemin' follows two aspiring Scottish MCs who devise an audacious scheme to achieve their big dream of a record deal, by posing as Californian hip hop artists (under the name "Silibil N' Brains"). As fame beckons and the lies pile up, their friendship is put to the test. Starring Samuel Bottomley & Séamus McLean Ross as the duo, with Lucy Halliday, Rebekah Murrell, & James McAvoy. Seems like it's about some wild and crazy good times. A cautionary tale, for sure, but also an entertaining story about young Scottish dreamers. // Continue Reading ›

New Trailer for 10th Anniversary of 'The Revenant' Starring DiCaprio "I ain't afraid to die anymore... I'd done it already." 20th Century has revealed the new trailer to celebrate the 10th Anniversary re-release of the epic, Oscar winning survival thriller classic The Revenant. This first opened in limited theaters in December 2015, then hit wide release in January 2016 after picking up a total of 12 Oscar noms. It also eventually won 3 Academy Awards in 2016 – including Best Cinematography, obviously. "Don't miss Leonardo DiCaprio's Academy Award-winning performance!" The bear fighter Leo himself returns to the big BIG screen. Shot on location for real up in Canada entirely with natural light - a frontiersman on a fur trading expedition in the 1820s fights for survival after being mauled by a bear and left for dead by members of his own hunting team. The grueling, extraordinary survival adventure follows Hugh Glass as he struggles to stay alive and survive in the harsh, snowy conditions while seeking revenge on the man who left him. Leonardo DiCaprio stars along with Tom Hardy, Domhnall Gleeson, and Will Poulter. This is actually just an update of one of the best trailers for this movie that they released back in 2015. I remember covering this film enthusiastically back then, I'm a big fan. Indeed so "brutally beautiful." // Continue Reading ›

First Trailer for 'Nina Roza' Film Following an Art Collector to Bulgaria "Is it true you came from the other side of the world?" A fascinating festival promo trailer has debuted for the compelling new film titled Nina Roza, made by filmmaker Geneviève Dulude-De Celles from Quebec. It also goes under the title Fleur bleue or Blue Flower – premiering at the 2026 Berlin Film Festival in the competition starting this week. The story follows Mihail, a Canadian immigrant from Bulgaria, who is sent to his country of origin 30 years after leaving it with his daughter Rose a long time ago... Forced to face the past he wanted to forget, he will measure the cost of their uprooting on his damaged bounds with her. There in Bulgaria he must travel to a rural region to find out if the unique paintings of a so-called child prodigy are genuine or a hoax. There he meets the young artist Nina, played by Sofia Stanina, who is strikingly similar to his own daughter Rose. The film stars Galin Stoev as Mihail, Ekaterina Stanina, Chiara Caselli, and Michelle Tzontchev. I'm always curious to watch these stories about someone investigating an artist and their authenticity, trying to find out what's really going on while ending up on their own profound journey. // Continue Reading ›
