More frequent service & better transfers can make transit an attractive option - improving ridership even in a city with car-oriented land use patterns.
When transit is better, more people use it - strange but true!
There's some hope here! Not all doom and gloom. π

Someone with sanity needs to write an opposing point for their opinion section. What a garbage piece to highlight by them.

01.04.2025 17:05 β π 222 π 21 π¬ 2 π 0Ugh this is disappointing. How do we shift our messaging so it lands better? We're not saying a coffee shop can't build as much parking as it wants, we're just saying it shouldn't be required to. Parking is expensive. I couldn't open a business if it was required.

This is DEFCON-1. If they do this to someone who wrote an op-ed in a college newspaper, they will do this to anyone they don't like.
In response to Councilmember feedback on February 11, Bellevue staff requested Metro to remove the BAT lane proposal for westbound NE 10th Street between State Route 520 and 110th Avenue NE. As noted above, Metro has already removed the eastbound NE 10th Street BAT lane in this same area. Bellevue staff performed a modeling analysis to assess year 2044 traffic impacts along NE 10th Street and other intersections in downtown. The modeling exercise compared impacts in two scenarios:
The City of Bellevue pushed to remove transit improvements for the future RapidRide K line along NE 10th Street, based upon theoretical traffic impacts in the year 2044, and they were dropped.
In case you're wondering why it's so hard for Metro to get effective RapidRide lines moved forward.
Should progressives shift their messaging to "we should lower housing prices so your property taxes go down" might win over a few folk?
