Similar comments happened when this was still with the Bellevue Planning Commission. People asking Bellevue to do anything it could to subvert the state.

These people have had decades to "understand the impacts of housing" and the impact has been sky-high housing costs and lack of inventory. They've had their chance to act on alternatives for over 20 years.

North of the border, Brampton, ON provides a lesson for suburbs like Bellevue:

More frequent service & better transfers can make transit an attractive option - improving ridership even in a city with car-oriented land use patterns.

When transit is better, more people use it - strange but true!

Someone with sanity needs to write an opposing point for their opinion section. What a garbage piece to highlight by them.

The crazy part is I do live in Bellevue and support increased density, much to the dismay of many of my community members who I saw last night.

Sorry I wasn't born earlier and able to buy 50 years ago! I should try that next time.

Ugh this is disappointing. How do we shift our messaging so it lands better? We're not saying a coffee shop can't build as much parking as it wants, we're just saying it shouldn't be required to. Parking is expensive. I couldn't open a business if it was required.

The Massachusetts governor, the city, and the university needs to drop everything to locate and free this girl and make sure this doesn't happen again.

This is DEFCON-1. If they do this to someone who wrote an op-ed in a college newspaper, they will do this to anyone they don't like.

The City of Bellevue pushed to remove transit improvements for the future RapidRide K line along NE 10th Street, based upon theoretical traffic impacts in the year 2044, and they were dropped.

In case you're wondering why it's so hard for Metro to get effective RapidRide lines moved forward.

The Dark Prophet of Car-Clogged Cities 70 years before congestion pricing landed in New York City, Lewis Mumford sounded the alarm on letting automobiles run amok in America’s downtowns.

Seventy years ago, the writer Lewis Mumford warned that urban highways would be a disaster:

β€œThis is pyramid building with a vengeance, a tomb of concrete roads and ramps covering the dead corpse of a city.”

He was right. We just didn’t listen.
