A Model of Zymogen Factor XII: Insights into Protease Activation Key Points. When not bound to a surface, FXII adopts a โ€œclosedโ€ conformation that is resistant to activation by plasma kallikrein.Intramolecular interactio

Factor XII (FXII) exists in multiple conformations, with a "closed" form dominating in solution. Surface binding triggers a shift to an "open" form, more primed for activation. AlphaFold-guided studies and single-molecule dynamics shed light on this process!
