Tip: if you almost hit me, my family or anyone with your car, do not give a cute little wave. This is violent behaviour that continually gets treated as a little “whoopsie” Pull over, stop your car and take some time to think about how you almost killed someone and their family.

If a child runs into the road and a driver doesn't see them, perhaps the driver was going too fast or perhaps there is not enough daylighting. But also, kids dart! They should be able to do kiddie things without getting killed.

Bi-modal for the first ride of the year, with a surprise 3rd largest climb I've ridden. Fun day, but would have been a lot more fun if rural Japan had consistent bike/pedestrian spaces. There were way too many cars despite decent enough drivers.

Once you start noticing not just car crashes as movie tropes but also completely unnecessarily aggressive driving, even in kids films, you can’t unsee it.

In a less car-brained culture this stuff would be called out & at least contribute to movie/TV ratings. But it’s so common & unchallenged.

Cars are deadly weapons and we should start to think about regulating them like it - of course, I'm talking about the ex-US case here!

You don't have to pick one thing and say that's *the* problem. It's all of it. The size of vehicles. The fact that the bollards were being repaired, allowing the driver easy access to the street. A culture soaked in violence. Leaders who make excuses and laws protecting drivers who kill. Etc.

Just like AR-15–style assault weapons, at some point, we have to come to terms with how dangerous massive vehicles like the Ford F-150 (EV or not) are to society and decide whether people should be allowed to have them.
