15.02.2025 01:27 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0In the South, when you hear the thigh slaps it's time to either GTFO or let someone else GTFO. When they are accompanied by a 'whelp' it means they're serious.
Funny thing is, none of us were ever really explicitly taught that. We just sort of automatically knew.
Like you have to get a license to slay, just like with firearms or driving a car.
04.02.2025 22:34 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I wouldn't mind that to a degree, because they could show how it's much more difficult nowadays with social media and the 24/7 news cycle being a thing.
Maybe they could have new rules specifically forbidding it & they have a teen slayer trying to get around the rules.
At the same time, it is a little frustrating seeing people talk like her music has never held merit or that there's zero reason for anyone to like any of her less well received music.
04.02.2025 15:11 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I wouldn't say that it was sudden. I knew a few people who really didn't like her but kept their mouths shut because people would almost literally apparate out of nowhere to unilaterally defend her, regardless of topic. I think I saw a few joke memes and comics about this phenomenon back then.
04.02.2025 15:10 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I don't know how the show will go, but I really hope that at least some of the Slayers teamed up to form a union. Partially for the obvious humor that could come from it, but also because they have one of the most dangerous jobs on earth. And sometimes not on earth.
04.02.2025 15:07 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 0Considering how nasty weddings and wedding planning can get, it's kind of surprising that the body count isn't higher at these things.

04.02.2025 15:01 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Never apologize for the tiny skeleton. Just remember - in the immortal words of Robert Englund from New Nightmare: "Just because it's a love story doesn't mean it can't have a decapitation or two."
So the tiny skeleton is justified.
A gymnast wearing a vibrant leotard performs on a balance beam, extending one arm and balancing with one leg outstretched. The background includes a scoreboard and spectators. Text says: Having won a total of six Olympic and nine World medals to date, Rebeca Andrade is the most decorated Brazilian and Latin American gymnast of all time, as well as the most decorated Brazilian Olympian in any discipline.
๐ง๐ท Meet Rebeca Andrade, the trailblazing Brazilian gymnast who made history at the Olympic Games.
Overcoming multiple injuries, Andrade's resilience and dedication led her to become the first Brazilian woman gymnast to win an Olympic medal, in Tokyo 2020.

Sometimes, randomly as people w/ active imaginations are wont to do, I'll wonder if I could hold out against torture. Then I remember @jfrostauthor.bsky.social writing a badass character who, realistically, wasn't able to hold up against extreme torture and realize that I'm a total marshmallow.

02.02.2025 06:13 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Fun fact: when they made the movie they did away with the 'antenna' strands of hair to show that the film had a more somber mood. They said that the antenna was a sign of happiness and that form of Hitomi wasn't a happy as the one in the TV series.

Publishers are getting so frustrated at George R.R. Martin's slow pace at finishing the series that they're trying to make their own entries in the series.
Can't go wrong with taxidermied raccoons, I suppose. Goodness knows Robert Baratheon probably had a million taxidermied animals.
