What a year! Honestly, I personally & professionally restructured & reprioritized. I started drawing again, did a short design contract with a cannabis company, facilitated a monarch festival, mural project, holiday market, & even started another short design contract with a nature org. Just about every article I read about AI is saying that it is making things worse. Why do we continue to invest our hope into it?

But when you zoom in on the photos literally every feather group has been so heavily manipulated and altered by AI editing that it’s impossible to determine subspecies because the photo is essentially fake now; just a mashup of whatever AI thinks parts of a Red-tail should look like. Scroll on… WOW! That’s a remarkable trail cam photo of a Bobcat! It almost looks like a painting!… but the head looks oddly small…. hmmmm. After some prodding the original photo is produced and sure enough it had been so heavily altered by AI ‘post processing’ that the photo posted was essentially a digital mock-up with totally different proportions and fur markings. No longer the photo off the trail cam; it may as well have just been ‘created’ by AI from scratch. This stuff is killing me. My days on social media are becoming very limited. We can’t even trust simple, everyday photos of animals to be real. The wildlife community needs to quit editing with AI, and we need to start calling out photographers that are using it. Our reality is being destroyed all around us.

Dude acting like he doesn't publicly complain and denounce the DBIA org online and get people riled up. I appreciate someone changing their mind after being given more information, but weird to act like he isn't a large part of how this is communicated to the public.

Maybe I just have to test it out for a period, or get some more longer term client/agency freelancing going to really see. That's good to hear that some businesses didn't notice a negative impact!

Capitalization affects how people read hashtags or how people hear them on screen readers. Use #camelCase or #PascalCase in hashtags instead of lowercase. You could have #DoctorWhoRewatch ("Doctor Who Rewatch") or #doctorwhorewatch ("doctor whore watch.")

Yep it really says something! And generally it isn't fooling anyone, I always notice something off with ai posts... That might change over time but, right now it's an unfollow when folks are using ai consistently.

Its like betting on your own demise. You can't say "we support and value the arts!" but then commit to actions or marketing that are the opposite to that alignment.

When I see any sort of arts-related, creative business, gallery, org, etc using Ai (even just for mockups or stock imagery), I feel it completely diminishes credibility. If your whole business/org is within the realm of "the arts" then it feels very counterintuitive to your brand values, period.

Truth. I deleted it for a while, but kept messenger. Two different apps! Then I could keep in touch with family but still not use the site, really.

I think I'll go back to deleting it lol, I was just using it to help create events for volunteer stuff but yeeeeesh
