Jill Busby Is the Northwest Film Forum’s New Executive Director. Jill Busby wants to restore the film nonprofit to the bustling cultural center it once was.

The change in leadership comes after what has been a challenging couple years for the organization. Though not alone in its struggles, NWFF laid off nearly of its staff a couple of years back. Now, Busby said she is planning to begin hiring more people back soon 📽️

The Engauge Experimental Film Festival returns to Northwest Film Forum NEXT WEEK for its 8th year! The festival celebrates sprocket-driven, artist-made experimental film, presenting six programs of shorts at NWFF’s cinema in Capitol Hill. All work featured in the festival originates on film stock.

I think just a really good example of Third Cinema in being a film that's used for advancing progressive causes instead of just being entertainment or art

It was shown clandestinely in underground clubs and organizations bc of the political climate -- film was split into sections (and if I remember correctly, even stopped mid-section) in order for representatives to update audiences on current events related to the film and to hold discussion!

THE HOUR OF THE FURNACES (I think we only watched Part 1) completely reshaped how I thought about both filmmaking and film exhibition!
