Driving a race car, even a 100 hp corolla, feels so far from torture. I feel bad for everyone who messes up the hearing from their day job - they weren't doing anything fun to destroy their body.

I dont think it was my most damaging moment, but being inside my corolla 24h of lemons car with no sound deadening or windows for 6h stints was a lot on my hearing.

I was only commuting for 10 years and had to switch to roadie life when I started working from home cause I realized I needed to bike for an hour a day to live.

Ridewithgps has been my best tool for finding the roads that are nice to bike on. I use the heat maps then drop the street view guy in spots along the roads to see a) speed limit and b) vibe.

There are also pre-made routes that you can tweak to your liking.
