I suddenly felt the urge to re-read books of the Italian resistance, I went to the library and borrowed one of the classic ones, remembering I had read it before, a long time ago. And I’ve checked the back and there I am, twelve year old me, and I look forward to meeting myself again in these pages.

I thought it would be good but I was also intimidated, thinking it might be brainy, dry. And now I’ve started (while my child naps, naturally), I don’t want it to stop. There’s the messy fragmented reality of life with a baby, and there are pages that are healing because true.

Unpacking our things after two years and getting our little bits of life, reminders of friends, of happy jaunts and of ourselves in another place in time and space, another life. And this bottle of milk had been hiding in a box all along, patiently waiting to be poured into another cup of tea.
