i feel even more radically anti car after a relatively positive car driver experience. if its this easy, and people still can't figure it out . . . cars are just not worth it.

bike lanes were good! i saw people on ebikes and cruisers and road bikes this entire trip even on the pali highway. i really wish i was healed enough to ride biki, their bikeshare rental system.

i didn't pay for car parking wherever i parked in honolulu yesterday. people double parked anyway. all street parking should become loading zones and handicapped parking.

road signage here in hawai'i is so easy to understand compared to massachusetts'. the road quality feels like the filet mignon of roads in comparison. maybe we just shouldn't bother making personal roads at all. we should pedestrianize and make public transit the priority as much as possible.

if car drivers still do illegal things in one of the most pleasant, easiest places to drive and park in the world, its really gotta be car brain. i have no other logical explanation.

despite all of that, i still saw car drivers breaking the law particularly with parking and solid lane lines; speeding for sure; and at least two scary incidences of a car driver being on their phone.

i usually drive in massachusetts, sometimes through boston. there was no honking here in honolulu. i saw no wild u-turns or deliberately aggressive driving. i saw no road rage.

i don't own a car, and i drove a rental yesterday to show my wife around the state capital in my home state here in honolulu, hawai'i. it was not great and also not the worst.

i have never thought of myself as a left leaning liberal, but as someone who bikes, i want to be the opposite of whatever that group is.

if the cops are being tazed and pursued, i get the point of it. otherwise its punching down.

This has to be the MOST cynical attempt to pretend individuals hold equal responsibility for climate change as corporations I've ever seen. I mean, who can say who's worse: tech billionaires draining earth's water and electricity for AI data centers or selfish people trying to breathe?

Look I get that it's not sexy that the Florida facility was closed via an environmental lawsuit but Al Capone got taken down by tax evasion. Not everything is sexy!

same! i have had exactly one medium bad injury on a rental ebike out of renting nearly a hundred times, and i still recommend them!

A friend objected to a comment I made--that a large proportion of pick-up owners are assholes. He said he could make the same observation about any group. Priests, artists, cabinet makers, pickleball players.

I said, "Not #cargobike owners. Very very low asshole quotient."

He couldn't disagree.
