They’re known as tourist locations, but I loved all the wilderness, the history, and indigenous culture out here the most.

Everything out here feels older and more beautiful than any other place I’ve been before.

And this is all just next door to where I live, geographically speaking.

Going on the looooooong bus ride back home tomorrow and I’m happy to get back to my place and my lil cat (who I know misses us) but Tofino & Ucluelet were really, really lovely places to spend the week.

After six hours on a little bus winding through narrow mountain roads, we’re in Tofino!

Now we begin Operation: chill for a week

It was a lot more affordable than a new pair of boots, too, so.

I dunno. I guess what I'm saying is patronize your local artisans where you can. They do cool stuff.

New experience unlocked: in this year 2025, I have utilized the services of a cobbler. My Doc Martens are a little over a year old but I am not kind to boots. So they suffered.

Imagine my delight when I get them back and they have HEART PATCHES over the holes. 💙

I completed all that I physically could. I left detailed notes for my coworkers on what couldn’t be completed. I escalated what needed escalating, labelled anything that might need review, I watered my plants throughly, filled out my time sheet, set my out of office…

I’m good, right? I did good? 😭

Had to fight tooth and nail to get there, nearly drowned in emails a dozen times today, but I made it to my weekend.

Someone tell me to please just forget about work. I’m supposed to go on my honeymoon starting on Sunday and part of me is trying to drag my job with me. 🥲

The wheel is already doing good work - I almost never drawn Laura.

She’s a character who’s largely still cooking. I know her in vibes and little pieces of plot, but the details are still coming to the surface.

God does sleep suit her, though. She’s been through so much. Let. Her. Rest.

The stress of getting it wrong ate me after a while. It felt like doing taxes to my little picture brain.

let: Honestly, I don’t take commissions anymore, but when I did, one of the many factors in why I quit was that folks insisted on trying to explain their very specific wants in paragraph form, no matter how much I begged for even just… stick figures. Scribbles. Something.

These are incredibly helpful because most artists are visual thinkers and we will get in an instant what a paragraph of text will only confuse and complicate. Don't sweat your drawing 'skills'; we are not judging you for that. We are eternally grateful.

It’s true! For the record, getting Heinrich was an INSTANT re-do. I legit did not want to draw him yet again. I refuse. XD

Laura’s what came up next and that felt so much better. Clearly I crave at least a bit of a challenge.

I spun the wheel in all seriousness for the first time last night and it came up as Heinrich. I’m so mad.

There are OCs on here you’ve never even HEARD OF.

(but I weighted it towards the ones I have actual designs for because I’m not a complete clod)
