Ex-UCP MLAs to join, rebrand Alberta Party instead of rebooting Progressive Conservatives from scratch | CBC News Changing the name of an existing small party to the PCs would be easier than launching the Tory party anew, says Peter Guthrie.

It's not only easier/quicker to rename an existing party than to launch a new one, but the Kenney-era rule that restricted use of UCP predecessor party's name only applies to startup parties, not name changes. www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

They were always a centrist party. The only reason they didn’t claim to be PC is because the space was already taken; but they were PC just without the corruption.

Thanks to Mike Smyth for having Markham on the show. Federal Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre says pipelines can be self-funded with no taxpayer subsidies. But with projects like Trans Mountain struggling to stay profitable, is it really doable? Markham Hislop shares his take. #abpoli #cdnpoli

WOW!

According to this email, not only has Danielle Smith & the UCP blocked the use of the PC name in Alberta…

It’s actually the Alberta Party that will be reanimated/rebranded under former UCP minister Peter Guthrie and former UCP MLA Scott Sinclair!

And I don’t say that to be a grump about the NDs — it’s a mountain of decades of literal brainwashing. That’s not something that can be overcome easily.

They aren’t scared of the NDs. The “conservative identity” is too ingrained in this province. And no one can look at the horrid leadership the UCP has and say “that’s what Albertans wanted.” Thats the “conservative identity” that voted for Smith, not common sense.

The Premier in attendance is usually a good boost for the numbers. Pay to play at the provincial level is pretty standard fare in Alberta with these types of people. They tried to accuse of Rachel Notley of that when she was a guest speaker at an ON NDP event. It failed for obvious reasons.

It’s the same as people who proudly proclaim they’ll never vote conservative; nothing could win them over, their mind is made up.

If they’re conservative voters, they will stay home if they don’t have a conservative option they want to vote for.
