Bradford’s Best Kept Secret

@bradfordspeakeasy.bsky.social

An elusive, ephemeral, speakeasy that takes place in Bradford’s finest buildings. A whisky, cocktails and jazz, masquerading under the name of “poetry club” (warning contains poets)

They bailed them out to the tune of £10k per person in the UK.

Not per taxpayer, per person, children included!

If they’d given that money to the people instead I can one hundred percent guarantee we wouldn’t be where we are now. I’d like to live in that timeline tbh.

This🧵
not only explains why
AI
is unavoidably shit

But it also explains why
philosophers cannot define
chairs v stools

& it serves to remind,
us to spend more time
IN reality
[ideally in elusive “poetry clubs”]
& less time doing philosophy
or online

Don’t confuse means
with ends

One of the most common arguments you hear from fans of generative ‘AI’ is that it’s not plagiarizing people’s work, it’s just learning like a human learns. So I’m going to break down why that’s just not true, and why it can never be true, with the existing systems. 1/

It's Friday, so, obviously, it's Jazz and Poetry night in a speakeasy set up in my very local museum as part of @bradford2025.co.uk

Nice to see the old Jowett cars (built about a mile away) still take pride of place.

Ten Rules for Aspiring Poets

1. Poetry does not have to rhyme.
Well, at least not all the time always.

2. Metaphors can lend a poem power
     (but mixing them isn’t good).
Should they start to fly in all directions,
      nip them in the bud.

3. Focus and concentration
     are important skills to hone.
Close the door. Turn off the wi-fi.
Don’t get distracted by your ph

4. Avoid clichés like the plague.

5. Don’t write stuff that’s a bit vague.

6. The use of unnecessarily long words
     may result in reader alienation.
     Curb your sesquipedalianism
     to obviate any obfuscation.

7. Always proof-read you’re work.
Accuracy can be it’s own reward!
     And remember that the penis
     mightier than the sword.

8. Check haiku closely
for lines which have too few
     or too many syllables.

9. Never ever follow rules.
