Really enjoyed ‘Among the Trolls’ by Marianna Spring. Our democracy as we know it needs us to get a grip on disinformation, conspiracies and online abuse.

I spent all of today covering a far right protest and it was horrible. Not my first rodeo of course, but I’m so worried about the fact that we are not understanding the normalisation of hate that Peter describes here and how gleeful the far right is about that normalisation

This might be aimed at asylum seekers, but in approach and language - especially the parts about the safely of his daughters and not wanting newly-arrived immigrants as neighbours - it’s pretty much indistinguishable from the BNP-style open racism of the 70s and 80s.

Fascinating read. I find her account of events believable.

ICE is illegally holding people here for weeks, often without adequate access to medical care, food, or legal counsel.

For years gender critical activists have called Nicola a whole range of lesbian slurs, provided rampant speculation while refusing to give her any space or privacy on the matter.

This isn't something that a gay ally does, that's the behaviour of a bigot.
