Denver has had at least two serious downturns. The energy business in the 1980s and the telecom business in the early 2000s. Lots of flat land on the outskirts to construct commodity houses not unlike Texas. Last time I was there it looked like there was a lot of vacant/underused office space.

The financial windfall from AI have outpaced the job losses so far. Through direct spending on data center infrastructure and also through the wealth effect - there's a lot of people flush with cash from brokerage accounts and home equity that are in YOLO mode. It won't last forever.
