People have to find out for themselves. Especially smart independent people. Especially younger people. And older people. I think I’m pretty smart, have most things figured out. But I still seek input and different perspectives. I am not all knowing. That’s the one thing I’m sure of.

The ones that pay attention and aren’t afraid of some hard work always succeed. Usually they would have anyway, but they needed someone to reassure them. Let them know they are on the right track. And in some cases tell them they aren’t. And explain why. Those don’t always succeed either.

Most times I relay a similar situation I was in, what my options were, what I did, how I did it, and what the result was, good and bad. This creates independent thinking and plausible deniability on my part haha. Plus, no one will ever do what you tell them to do no matter if they begged for it

I’ve told people straight up when asked for advice “I don’t give advice”. One followed up with “Then tell me what you would do”. I replied “you know what I would do”. He said “I know” and I replied “then why are you talking to me?” He did what I would have done and is now wildly successful.

I learned very early. Never give advice. Even when asked for it. First, when I give advice and it goes wrong, then it’s my fault. Second, even if I give advice people don’t do what I suggest, or do it differently. For the latter they fail, for the former it was a waste of my breath.
