UK universities are cutting staff/ subjects to cater to the hard left policies here. Arts/Humanities, areas that develop critical thinking are being shelved to drive up STEM. No problem with STEM more anything that encourages debate and breaking line is out. So many excellent people put of work.

The ending is a musically accomplished piece that echoes the expressionist work of the early 30s, requires performers with outstanding pitch and is a dramatic piece of writing that equals any operatic/symphonic work or straight theatre. I wouldn't want to see it often but it is genius in any form.

I've been listening to Cabarets TER cast recording & it brought back the feelings I had when I first saw it thirty years ago. The stage version is a breathtaking, revolutionary piece of theatre. And the bleakest, harshest critique of human nature I've encountered in any art form. And we deserved it.

I agree, it's never my first suggestion to anyone unless they are very comfy getting under the hood. I accept I can't use my custom build desktop as several components just don't work, and my Dell laptop is similar. 13 year old Toshiba Satellite with Enlightenment though is better than new on Win7!

Not dissimilar myself. Ubuntu on and off for years, Elementary for a bit then Mint for several years before trying Trisquel. Does need some fiddling but most things are doable. And not really more than on any other distro for a reasonably experienced user. Three years on it now straight.

I've just reread my December blog and I suspect from the spelling and typo errors the mince pies weren't the only influence on my writing...

I was a kid in the 80s when I first read it and it stuck with me for years that everything else was different. Blame Murneau and Nosferatu, only blemish in an outstanding film. If you dig into the folklore vampires where sometimes seen in the day. If I did uni over I'd do vampire mythology!
