The highlight of my SBL is always my PhD supervision meetings with my doktorvater and friend, Matthew Novenson. His brilliance and scholarly acumen are only matched by his kindness and generosity. If you know him, you know why I’m thankful for such a mensch. #aarsbl25

I was much more disciplined this year at SBL and stuck to only purchasing the books on my list. My pocketbook is thanking me right now. These are the elect that made the cut. #aarsbl25

The following declaration is inscribed on the north side of the library, “THE COMMONWEALTH REQUIRES THE EDUCATION OF THE PEOPLE AS THE SAFEGUARD OF ORDER AND LIBERTY” (see pic below). Indeed! Spaces like these are an important reminder and beacon when public education is under assault. (2/2)

I love the Boston Public Library’s Central Library in the heart of downtown. The motto of the library is “Free to All.” The library is beautiful, I especially love the well known Bates Hall. (1/2)

The Pauline Epistles session today has been a lot of fun. I especially enjoyed my buddy Daniel Glover’s paper, “‘In Tongues of Mortals and Angels’: Tongues and Angelization in 1 Corinthians”… (1/2)

I'm getting excited about SBL next week in Boston! Looking forward to seeing good friends from all over the world, some great book panels and papers, and intellectual refreshment that I'm sure will spur on my own thinking, research, and writing!

Debussy in the ears, a grey cloudy day outside, inside my favorite coffee shop, enjoying good coffee and an excellent breakfast sandwich, reading, thinking, and writing a chapter for a festschrift. Today, life is good.

I treated myself to a fun volume today. Though I already have the digital copy, I wanted a hardcopy to read for fun and to support my local bookstore.

I think I post this every year, because it’ll always be hilarious! LOL

So excited to hear the legend, Herbie Hancock, himself, in Milwaukee at the Pabst tonight! We are celebrating Ethan becoming Dr. Vanderleek and Dad!
