Promotional graphic for the AGU25 conference session titled "B008 - Advances in Understanding Water-Energy-Carbon Interactions." It announces a call for abstracts due July 30, 2025, at 23:59 EDT. The central question posed is: "How do water-energy-carbon interactions shape terrestrial biosphere responses to global change?" Key topics include coupling of water-energy-carbon cycles, bridging scales and processes, climate change sensitivities and impacts, and applications for climate resilience. The image features headshots and affiliations of invited speakers Julia Green (University of Arizona) and Gabe Kooperman (University of Georgia), and conveners YanLan Liu (Ohio State), Justin Mankin (Dartmouth), Dan Gianotti (MIT), Flavio Lehner (Cornell), and Xiangtao Xu (Cornell). The background shows a scenic natural landscape with trees.

Correcting the heartwood-sapwood transition in blue intensity measurements with change point detection methods Delta blue intensity is a commonly used method to correct for the heartwood-sapwood color change in blue intensity (BI) measurements. It is based on t…

The color of tree rings—especially the blue spectrum—can be used to reconstruct past climate. But the heartwood-sapwood color change complicates this technique since it's unrelated to climate. Our new paper tackles this problem: 🧪🧵https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S1125786525000505

When I decided to openly disclose my #ADHD 1/2 year ago, early career scientists started asking me for tips & how did I reconcile (undiagnosed) #ADHD with a science career. It’s been a long learning journey and some of it is laid out here: www.nature.com/articles/d41...

New work suggests much of North and South America were drier during the mid-Pliocene, last period in the pre-industrial with CO2 levels similar to today
