here are the receipts. before this he was cursing saburov's name for deciding to go against daniil's own suggestions of not destroying the water barrels of middle town and quickly changed his tune when artemy provided the appropriate evidence. daniil u are so misunderstood

he is an academic! in academia you're often more wrong than right! that's how knowledge is developed and science pushed towards newer advancements!! if you're a dedicated student to the sciences, being stubborn is a sin and becomes an enemy to change!!!!

p2 is just me keeping track of how unimaginably wrong popular/fanon consensus is about daniil because i just finished the water barrel quest and he's actually very open to the prospect of being wrong if evidence proves otherwise and is willing to immediately fix his mistakes

daniil has absolutely no time for politeness, he is only fixated on accomplishing his own task which ultimately ends in failure. it's what makes the relationship between daniil and artemy stand out, because despite all this and the barriers impeding their time with each other, they grew closer

and i think the prose for his dialogue is perfect, he speaks like a man who knows he is running out of time and would do anything *but* waste it. the characters always talk about how he's in a hurry, frantically jumping from one thing to the next, and that, of course, breeds hostility

bachelor in artemy's pov lacks any politeness and civility, but it's genuinely funnier and more interesting that way. i wouldn't say there was ever a moment where he was offensive to artemy, just the opposite where daniil immediately wants artemy by his side and acknowledges the skills of the other
