"Adaptation is a bit like translation. We can nit-pick certain words in a translation, but are the essential narrative elements conveyed, including tone?"

I haven’t seen the movie, and this is pretty funny.

But…maybe comic book artists should increase their page rates, band together, start a union or guild, or fight together in some other way so that this isn’t so far-fetched?

There’s a guy in England, a political figure, who shares a name with my friend who killed himself in 1998. I don’t follow the account here, but for some reason, most of his posts get recommended to me. It stops me every time.

(Twitter used to recommend that I follow my deceased parents’ accounts.)

Studio executives get really upset if they’re not thanked by name during an awards show?

Well, well, well …

Look who made the cover of β€œJohn Wayne” magazine. Again.

Better luck next time, Gacy.

That’s a book I’ve re-read a few times, but never on audio. Good narration?

They loved it.

Mark Chiarello with the best Spidey cover I've seen in a while. Love this. The villain's faces.

Especially in that mid-80s to mid-90s era, it’s one way editors tried to work. Probably because of the success of BRIGHT LIGHTS, BIG CITY having evolved from a short story. β€œRalph the Duck” and Michael Cunningham’s β€œWhite Angel” are the two examples I think of most. They should have stayed stories.

β€œRalph the Duck” is great. Better as a story than the novel it was later tucked into, GIRLS.

X-Men was released 25 years ago today.

Time to wear your leather jacket over your denim jacket over your flannel and celebrate properly, bub.
