Actions in my game are small things you can do like scanning moments in time to discover them, suppressing a lead so you don't have to worry about it expiring, etc.

I added an action queue visualizing where and what actions you did and allowed the user to undo the action.

The master course cost $400 but highly recommend it (it's a one time purchase) - earlier is better to know all the phases of marketing.

Check out howtomarketagame.com (I am taking the master wishlist course). It's the number to get on upcoming. You would need about 30k or so to appear on "real steam" to reach the recent thresholds to stop being filtered out of the recommendation engines.

First two patterns are general patterns from the gang of 4 but they can be used a lot. Command pattern in strategy games with undo (and I realized I am using it for my quick action system in my game) and Observer pattern is just signals in GDScript or events in C#

I think this book covers the emotional aspects first, actually. Mechanics is only one element.

Godot - my python background from my ML Engineer background meshed with GDScript really well, and I deliberately chose it to be 2D for simplicity (although it's very UI heavy but Godot makes that simple with its WYSWYG editor and signals).

End of the chapter had the final definition of a game being "A game is a problem solving activity, approached with a playful attitude."

Honestly the way the book is written itself seems... playful in the sense that it is written? It's different from a technical book for sure.

It's tickling a different part of my brain. Just got to the definition of play which gives a number of approaches but settles on "Play is manipulation that indulges curiosity" which explains my approach to game development in the first place (new experiences for me)
