This has always been the perfect example of how messed up the British press is with its relationships with women and girls, but I’d never noticed before that it’s for the premier of Rush Hour 2, directed by man of the moment Brett Ratner.

Oh, I thought for a bit they might have called the horse Busty. Yes, Misty would be a better name for a horse

In South Africa these are known as Stiffies. I’m not from SA, but found it an amusing idea as a teenager www.comx.co.za/USBFLOPPY-Mi...

I think the film sort of recognises that, so after being made to look like a dick, at least he doesn’t screw up like the FBI. Everyone gets a slight pass, even Ellis when it turns out he’s not selling out Holly to Hans. Except for Thornburg, who’s the unredeemable arse of the film

Yes, they should be since even windows are a problem. I think that’s part of an explanation of vampires becoming less visible as society grows. Almost certain I’m thinking of the same thing, β€œBlindsight” from Peter Watts.

Yes, and I think context matters; how scary it might be on my own in the dark, might be very different to seeing a film in a full cinema

Yeah, the Speak To Chat. I can turn it off in the app, but I’m the world expert in accidentally triggering the touch pad to switch it back on again. If I could switch of that specific touch pad gesture, they’d probably be 100% perfect

It does seem an odd form of scepticism when in both cases they knew people who were confirmation that it existed.

While we all had to work from home, our manager setup daily lunch online chats so that people kept in contact, and one of the contractors at work asked us all sceptically if we’d ever met anyone with Covid, eh? πŸ€” Then a couple of sentences told us about his neighbour who had it.

I’m certain that Moviedrome and reading too much Phillip K Dick as a teenager made me the man I am today. I don’t know if people who know me would consider that a ringing endorsement…

I work at a major manufacturing company, and we’re only just migrating a major source of data out of a system written in Access 2000 (and that was an update).

Mancunian Man: The Legendary Life of Cliff Twemlow (2023) ⭐ 7.9 | Documentary 2h 4m

There an amazing film about Cliff Tremlow, who was the filmmaker behind this m.imdb.com/title/tt2733.... I’d really recommend it. It’s quite funny, but it’s also very touching too. I saw it at the Frightfest film festival the other year.

I’ve had something I’d describe as a runner’s high, but I suspect more generally people need to find the activity where this works for them. I would guess you’d need to enjoy the activity. I’ve also had altered states of consciousness while writing computer code. After I had no idea how it worked.

Shocking idea; if this was enforced what would I have to moan about when I get into the office? Gets me through the day.

Saw it again in the cinema the other week. Hard to believe it’s almost 3 hours, it flies by. My friend was trying to find a good point to pop out to the toilet; there isn’t any.

I watched this again recently, this time with my dad who’d never heard of it. The next day my parents were watching one of those β€œtop 100 Christmas no1” programs, and someone says β€œthis one really goes up to eleven”. Dad looked at me in disbelief. Probably common, but he’d never have noticed.

The Alan Patridge joke is sublime, since it isn’t even a Beatles album. It’s a really cleverly named Pete Best album.

My friend’s late mother used to say to him after I’d visited, β€œOh, isn’t Richard looking prosperous”. Very charming.

I saw him doing a Q&A after Zardos at the BFI in September. He talked about how he got on so well with Connery and Lee Marvin. Then about 20 minutes in, after a different question, he paused. β€œNow Toshiro Mifune, I thought he was a complete bastard”. Amazing delivery, brought the house down.

My review of this film - β€œhang on, that was a space 1999 eagle?!” I don’t know what that is out of 10, but it’s got to be up there.

Trance Frendz by Γ“lafur Arnalds and Nils Frahm is great. Amongst other reasons, it has my favourite pause between the first 2 chords of any track I know (the first track). For some reason the anticipation of it just makes me smile. It’s a very relaxing album
