It’s got to that time of the year where I can feel the tiredness in my bones. When the body is no longer remotely willing and the spirit is asleep

I would say β€˜hugs’ but that’s probably the last thing you need. So solidarity, hang in there, those wards are rough

We are being poisoned every day, so why do we keep voting for more pollution? Ask a lobbyist | George Monbiot The dirty industries that dominate politics deceive us into accepting dangerous pollutants such as ammonia as part of life, says Guardian columnist George Monbiot

I think about this quote from @georgemonbiot.bsky.social a lot:

β€œThe idea that some people may freely poison others is one of the most astonishing but least contested aspects of modern life.”

I do think it’s worth noting that, on the day that a damning review into the state of NHS maternity care has been released, the big issue that gender critical self-titled β€œfeminists” seem to have with the NHS is that the specific board in Fife just isn’t transphobic enough to staff for their liking.

Oh cool, I’ll have a look ta πŸ™‚ I’ll never buy a Tesla but looks like there are quite a lot of decent used options. And yeah costs seem pretty reasonable even using public chargers now that the variables I’m using are more sensible. Will probably be upgrading next summer, got a bit of research to do!

07.12.2025 19:16 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Some sort of used saloon, we’ve heard good things about polestar but are still (evidently) pretty early in our research! Having mixed up the polestar 2’s 200kw motor with its 69kwh battery capacity, I was >doubling the rough costs πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ so am interested again. Nearby is a type 2, 22kw charger

Huh, turned out I was misinterpreting the specs and it’s about half the price I’d expected. Oops. Deleting the above then as it’s wrong πŸ˜‚

07.12.2025 17:49 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Oh hang on, I think I’ve mixed up battery capacity with motor power when looking at the specs on a few cars πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ that makes quite a difference!

07.12.2025 17:42 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 2    πŸ“Œ 0

Yeah something like that could be worth looking into for us tbf rather than solely electric vs ICE. It’s something that I’m only just starting thinking about, realising we’ll probably opt to change car sometime next year

06.12.2025 22:49 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Our usage isn’t too high normally tbh, the issue is more that it would be a huge pain in the arse to ever charge at home without a driveway or a proper charge point. We’d just need to rely on the public ones instead

06.12.2025 22:48 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Yeah, our place has neither and we’d need a seriously long granny charger to make it work, plus that would only really be viable in summer. Changes could be made if we owned the place, but not changes a landlord would likely be too inclined to make for us

Exercise benefits are diminished by air pollution - AirQualityNews The benefits of regular exercise, long considered to be one of the most effective ways to reduce the risk of premature death, may be undermined by poor air quality, according to new research. The…

The further we reduce PM2.5, the better it is for our #Health.

New research from UCL shows that exercising in areas of raised PM2.5 pollution reduces the health benefits of being active. More evidence that we need to be heading towards World Health Organization #AirPollution guideline levels.
