So we have this database for wildlife disease surveillance, and we made a data standard, and an R and Python package to help you clean your data, and two years in we just still cannot get first adopters, so here’s my new bit: I will personally Venmo you $20 of my personal money to share a dataset

Dispelling harmful misinformation about M&S 'trans' bra fitting row Dangerous misinformation over an M&S 'trans' bra fitting story is spreading online; here's what we actually know.

The moment I saw that "trans bra" M & S story I sensed it was nonsense.

Seconds later, having read the Telegraph piece I knew it was worse than that. It was deliberate hate mongering completely devoid of evidence, names and facts.

Superb job of debunking it here

Proceeded to make my singing *even less* rhythmic and even more monotonous, that did the trick. Good luck dancing to that bubs πŸ’ͺ

I’m singing my toddler soothing lullabies to try and lull her to sleep. She’s started energetically dancing along, just vibing.

Unsure what my next move is. Defeated

We once loved pigeons. We might not remember that, but they do | Joseph Earp The gentle, beautiful curiosity of humans led to the discovery that these birds are able to differentiate between paintings by Monet and Picasso

It's nice to see more discussion about the origin of pigeons that, like gentle and humble dandelions, follow in the dismissive wreckage of human history, without any fault of their own.

Kinda interestingly (to me): my muscles are now aching waaay more than I would have expected from a 6 mile race. Presumably I did a load more anaerobic respiration than normal during the race due to impaired breathing, and that takes longer to recover from. Fun.

I doubt there are many race directors following me on here but in case: if your inflatable start-line requires the runners to spend ages stood next to a diesel generator breathing in fumes before beginning a run, know that you’re pissing off all asthmatics in your midst

If you want a weird but true fact to talk about:

Dexter Holland, lead singer of The Offspring, was instrumental in this. His doctorial thesis in molecular biology was sequencing mRNA in HIV. The paper was also heavily cited in creating the COVID-19 vaccine.
