"Dogs and Punching Bags" by Kaori Ozaki. The beginning of this is so sickly sweet that it was a relief when the Tragic Backstories kick in. I cried at the end.

This gag where Denji doesn't recognize Generic Dark Haired Shonen Jump Supporting Character #258 is so relatable. There's a half dozen of this guy in Sakamoto Days alone and I can't tell any of them apart.

Not sure how far you are but I think the show REALLY needed another 1-2 episodes of the girls being best friends before Plot starts happening. The cute end credits sequence has to do so much heavy lifting.

(I kind of like that the girls in GQuuuuuuX are both pining after some boring guy. Its a very Archie Comics dynamic)

"Short Game" by Mitsuri Adachi. The baseball theme is so tertiary to most of these stories that you kind of get the impression Adachi only includes it out of habit. The last of the autobio stories is a Tharg's Future Shock lol.

Added the new series "Class of Brains" to my Shonen Jump rotation. Its not really the main focus but there's some good cosmic bullshit in here.

I always think people overestimate Miyazaki’s western influences so I’m glad to hear this one straight from the man himself

Learning that Hayao Miyazaki had to create Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind because he couldn’t get the rights to the Richard Corbin werewolf comic he wanted to adapt has turned my whole world upside down.

"Grendel: Devil's Crucible: Defiance" by Matt Wagner and pals. This was a big letdown. Shallow new characters, heavy exposition, random transphobia, and nothing really happens because Wagner saved the whole premise of the series for the last page.

"Record of the Glass Castle" by Osamu Tezuka is basically indistinguishable from a Gilbert Hernandez comic. You could slot it right between "Fatima: The Blood Spinners" and "Grip" and no one would notice.

Sorry to disappoint, I dropped the series because I wasn’t vibing with it 😩

"A Garden of Spheres" Part 3 by Linnea Sterte. I always appreciate the open-ended quality of this series that allows Sterte to do whatever she wants. The somber Le Guin style anthropological world-building, and also lesbian sex between a horny angel and an anime catgirl.

I think its dumb that every remake of the original Galactus story tries to make it more prestigious by cutting the soap opera love triangle subplot. Not even Kirby could make it work without that emotional core. The people long to see a lonely woman forced to choose between two monster boyfriends.

"Chuck Beans" by Tsurune Hatomune. He's the bean-shaped robot from the future. Chuck Beans!
