Sam Witwer would have killed it as pretty-boy Desaad but unfortunately he already played Doomsday for 100 episodes in a row.

We’re on the last season of Smallville and they’re introducing the New Gods. Desaad as a generic handsome CW actor is such a funny concept.

"Vaster Than Empires and More Slow" is like if Le Guin took one of her Hainish novels and compressed it down into a short story. Essential reading.

It got buried in the discourse but I saw today that Grant Morrison also teased a new story called "Vaster Than Empires" and was briefly horrified by the possibility of Morrison doing an adaptation of my favorite Ursula Le Guin short story. (Thankfully its not actually that).

Whenever people talk about Grant Morrison’s magician schtick I think about how annoying that sort of thing is in real life. White guy I worked with 6 jobs ago introduced himself as a “shaman” and wouldn’t stop talking to me about animal spirits.

Simon have you read “The Mount” by Carol Emshwiller. It’s a whole book about this.
