if you are feeling rejected, disappointed or missing your friend you don't have to bury those feelings. you're allowed to feel hurt, but just don't blame us for things outside our control. see if you can accommodate each other but don't just abandon your chronically ill friends 💌

all i'm saying is you can't treat chronically ill people like we are healthy. think about how you feel when you're sick - do you want to put on a brave face, pretend not to be sick, be social? no. you want to lay in bed, rest and heal. it's the same for us but it's way more frequent!

i promise it's more disappointing for us that we can't make it than it is for you to receive the no. we are often in desperate need of social connection but our bodies limit us. if we say yes when we shouldn't we pay for it for days, weeks, months or it can even effect our baseline permanently

this is a complicated thing because i understand that it can feel like a rejection and it is on us chronically ill folk to be clear that its because of our illness not from a lack of desire to spend time with you so you don't feel like a bother/burden in reaching out

BUT-

i keep seeing posts saying things along the lines of "if i keep inviting you and you say no i'm not going to invite you anymore"

and i just need people to know if you have chronically ill friends, this leaves us with the option of masking our pain & getting sicker or having no friends 🧵 #disability
