Communication Bill of Rights
Everyone should always treat me with respect.
I have the right to meaningful communication.
My communication should honor my culture and identity.
When people talk about me, they must speak to me directly. They should always focus on getting answers from me.
Every time I communicate someone should respond to me. Sometimes the answer may not be what I prefer, but I should not be ignored.
I must be supported to communicate in all the places I go and while doing all the activities in my life.
I must be given information about myself and the world around me in a way I can understand.
I choose which AAC I use.
The AAC I have access to should be customized to work well for my needs.
My AAC must be available and accessible at all times.
I must always have access to the support I need to communicate for my whole life.
I must be given meaningful options to choose from.
I make my own choices.
I am in charge of my own social life.
I can build relationships and keep them.
I can always ask for anything and anyone.
I can always say no to anything or anyone.
I can always say how I feel.
I can always say what I like.
I can always say what I dislike.
I have a right to communicate.

Wasnβt able go to the #handsoff protest today, so finished this adaptation of The Communication Bill of Rights in solidarity. Sometimes Disabled activism looks different.
Communication is a human right. All people deserve to communicate. Every communication method is equally valid.
