CPS to appeal against dismissal of terrorism charge against Kneecapโ€™s Liam ร“g ร“ hAnnaidh The rapper was accused of displaying a flag in support of Hezbollah but case was thrown out by magistrate

Oh, what.

Let's hope the appeal fails as well.

Maybe Starmer should be realistically doing something about Gaza and Palestine and stop worrying about people who keep calling out his bullshit

From the book Saving a Sick America:a prescription for moral and cultural transformation

Here in America, โ€œstudies find that in the United States the irreligious are far more likely than the religious to believe in a whole array of occult beliefs such as Atlantis, Bigfoot, the Loch Ness Monster, astrology, UFOs, haunted houses, and ghosts.โ€34 So it is not those following the Scriptures who believe in fairy tales and superstitious myths. It is those who reject Godโ€™s Word who are more likely to do this. In the oft-quoted words of G. K. Chesterton, โ€œWhen people stop believing in God, they donโ€™t believe in nothingโ€”they believe in anything.โ€35 On October 14, 1941, Adolph Hitler commented: So itโ€™s not opportune to hurl ourselves now into a struggle with the Churches. The best thing is to let Christianity die a natural death. A slow death has something comforting about it. The dogma of Christianity gets worn away before the advances of science. Religion will have to make more and more concessions. Gradually the myths crumble. All thatโ€™s left is to prove that in nature there is no frontier between the organic and the inorganic. When understanding of the universe has become widespread, when the majority of men know that the stars are not sources of light but worlds, perhaps inhabited worlds like ours, then the Christian doctrine will be convicted of absurdity.36 Today we can say that it was not Christianity that died a natural death. To the contrary, it was Nazism that died a violent, ignominious death while the Christian faith, despite setbacks in the West, is thriving worldwide like never before. Nazism, for its part, has been โ€œconvicted of absurdityโ€โ€”and far worse.

The global AI boom is well on its way to Australia, with the prices of energy and property expected to rise as a result.

The government will need to find a solution to prevent Aussies from footing the bill, with a Coalition minister spruiking nuclear energy as a potential solution.

Increased investment from international firms in Australian AI infrastructure over the coming years is set to drive up demand for land and energy to support the technology.

Energy and utility expert Phillip Vrettakis said the demand for energy from technology companies โ€œis much more than weโ€™ve got availableโ€.

โ€œItโ€™s going to be a challenge for the entire energy sector,โ€ he said.

Mr Vrettakis, an executive director of energy advisory firm Rennie, said the increase in energy demand from data centres would lead to โ€œbigger bills for consumers going forwardโ€.

Data centres have a โ€œnever-ending demandโ€ for energy and are โ€œhungryโ€ for data, land and water to cool their facilities, he said.

โ€œAt the moment thereโ€™s a real scramble for locations that are close to city centres to make sure infrastructure, especially fibre connections and latency are short.โ€

The warning comes after US-based software giant OpenAI confirmed plans to open its first Australian office in Sydney, and Amazon pledged a $20bn investment in local data centres.

A spokesperson for the federal governmentโ€™s trade and investment promotion agency Austrade, said they are โ€œseeing strong interest from international investorsโ€ in AI.

An April report from the International Energy Agency projected electricity demand from data centres worldwide is set to more than double by 2030.

Coalition spokesman for Energy Dan Tehan said nuclear innovations in the United States including small modular reactors could provide a solution to Australian energy demands.๏ปฟ

โ€œThereโ€™s basically a nuclear renaissance taking place in the US,โ€ Mr Tehan told ABC Radio National on Thursday following a trip to the US touring nuclear sites.

โ€œEveryone that I spoke to is incredibly confident given the use of AI, given the use of quantum, that they will continue to make rapid developments with nuclear technology.
