I actually refer to this as sending a “keepalive”, which is a mechanism in networking to ensure a connection is still there even if data isn’t being sent. My friends know that they don’t have to respond or “send me data”; I’m just keeping the connection there. Little pings sent with love.

I think regularly engaging with other people’s posts is helpful. I’m just a silly little nobody, but if I reply to a post from an account that already has some viewership, I’ll get at least 5 follows each time. We’re all looking for like-minded community here, I think.

I applied the “Quiet Posters” feed as a filter when I basically want to do the same. Sometimes I’m in the mood for news or louder posters, and sometimes I’m in the mood for once-weekly posts from accounts about mushrooms.

That’s funny—my dog’s name was Jasper. I joined a friend’s group chat and another person in the chat had a husband named Jasper, so it definitely got confusing for some. 🐶 🤷🏻‍♀️ 👨
