The Fighting Fantasy books are the third pillar of my sword & sorcery influence triumvirate alongside Dungeons & Dragons and Conan the Barbarian.

Artwork from those books is welded into my brain.

The Fallen Order games... I haven't read much, but from what I've seen a lot of the older books written in the 90's go deeper into worldbuilding than the newer stuff which are more character-based. If you want WORLDBUILDING read the old Westend Games rpg sourcebooks. A lot of old canon still sticks.
