Rock art from at least 67,800 years ago in Sulawesi - Nature
A hand stencil painted on a cave wall on a small island off the coast of Sulawesi more than 67,800โyears ago suggests a very early occupation of Wallacea.
Hand-stencil motifs found in caves in Sulawesi, Indonesia, dating to at least 67,800 years ago, may be the oldest rock art discovered, according to a study in Nature. These findings support the theory that early humans migrated to Sahul via a northern route through Sulawesi. ๐บ ๐งช

Hundreds of NIH grant terminations are 'void and illegal,' federal judge rules
A federal judge ruled that some of the grant terminations by the National Institutes of Health on DEI grounds are โvoid and illegal.โ
"The plaintiffs did not accuse the NIH of racial discrimination, but Judge Young raised the issue. โI have never seen racial discrimination by the government like this,โ in his 40 years on the bench he said, to which there was an audible gasp in the courtroom."

An incredible legacy and body of work in cognitive development. He was so kind when I was presenting my very first poster at my very first SRCD... it wasn't until he walked away I caught the last name on his name tag. That year, the first names were big, so I just saw "John". I gasped.

An Important Update from IIE | IIE
Effective March 14, some IIE team members who work on ECA-funded programs will be furloughed.
Massive furloughs at IIE, which administers the Fulbright. What is perhaps our country's most successful program for building cultural connections and bringing talent from abroad to the US is in danger of collapse because of this administration.

This gives me an idea. Every semester when I teach moral development, I talk about Kohlbergโs theory and present the Heinz dilemma. It would be interesting to create a bunch of moral dilemmas that reflect the present moment.

So - I've actually led Ebola outbreak response at USAID.
This is bunk from Elon. They have laid off most of the experts, they're bankrupting most of the partner orgs, have withdrawn from WHO, and muzzled CDC.
What's left is a fig-leaf effort to cover their asses politically.
