People don’t need 500 horsepower cars either but we don’t ban them, we have laws that restrict how they can be used. I’m all for common sense gun laws but banning assault weapons is not the way to win an election right now. Something like 80% of gun related deaths are caused by handguns.

Sorry, I don’t get your meaning. I think the threats to our democracy and core rights is the most dangerous issue we’re currently facing. I don’t think neutering law-abiding gun owners is the right move when people on the left are scared and arming themselves in record numbers.
