Last week I returned from a 2 week trip to Costa Rica with the research lab I’m in. It was so much fun and we saw so many birds and creatures. I want to post more here so I’ll try to drop CR pics in the weeks to come! First can be this encounter with a tamandua right on a trail!

In the chaos of the world my college is closing. I’m thankful to be graduating this May, but it hurts knowing it’s the final graduating class. Transferring to this school was the best decision I ever made, and my heart aches for the community. Northland will always live on💙🧡

I take this anniversary to reflect on my personal experience, but also the condition of healthcare for women and in general for the US. I often find myself worrying about the people walking around with my condition that are undiagnosed, suffering daily, and told they are a psych case. I have now met doctors that when they see WW on my chart they ask if I was told I was crazy. There are Drs aware of the stigma, but they are rare. I know it is not just my condition, people with other heart problems, GI, autoimmune, just not getting answers. I am one of those people, and it hurts to think of how many of us there are. Stay strong in this frustrating system, lean on your friends, find communities on social media”

Yesterday was my 8 year anniversary of my heart surgery. I made brownies and reflected on the state of healthcare in the US, especially for women. I will continue to use my story to help empower others, you know your body best!

Since it’s exploding over here might as well do an intro. Im Adri! I’m in my last year of undergrad majoring in fisheries + wildlife. I love all things birds, from a hobby to science. ATM I am very interested in population trends + dynamics of Great Curassows in Costa Rica :)
