24.06.2025 06:31 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 1 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0TOUGH LESSON: Today I learned how the Dutch Scientific Funding agency keeps their grant success rate at an acceptable level. After a number of submissions, without advanced warning, they close up shop for the rest of the year. A lot of work went into this proposal I cannot submit.
21.06.2025 08:54 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 0In collaboration with @lennartschada.bsky.social we tried, unsuccesfully, to express MtrCAB and CymA in Paracoccus denitrificans. This nice work by Gescher suggests why we might not have been successful.

03.04.2025 13:37 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 3 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I like to write a report that is both useful to the editor, while not sounding spiteful to the authors. However, I also hate to put too much work in, as the senior authors on the manuscript should given this work due diligence themselves. HELP PLEASE (especially if there is an editor out there).
03.04.2025 10:05 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0What is the best way (and QUICKEST) to write a review report for a submission that reads like a data-dump with many statements that are neither supported by data overload nor by literature. Typically, these papers lack a research strategy and I wonder if the senior author actual read the submission.
